ASRC Federal InuTeq is seeking a Linux System Administrator (HPC) to join our team in support of NASA's Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) project. ASRC Federal InuTeq provides High Performance Computing services throughout the HPC lifecycle for computational requirements, architecture, acquisition, and operations to federal government customers. This position will interact with the HPC Operations Manager, Program Manager, Site Lead, customer, users, and site staff, attending regularly scheduled customer meetings to keep stakeholders informed of activities and progress, and answer inquiries concerning all aspects of the program. An individual at this skill level should have demonstrated problem-solving ability in relevant areas of expertise and should have an interest in mentoring and leading others in small team environments. Key Role:   Lead a project to build a new monitoring tool set for the organization, encompassing the HPC and Private cloud systems. Lead the integration of Kubernetes and Splunk into the environment, including recommending, implementing and teaching a new configuration to the team. Leads and collaborates on projects to enhance functionality in areas such as systems monitoring, configuration management, and backups. Maintain the Atlassian suite by keeping the information up to date and helping the management team with strategic process improvements and user facing changes. Configures, installs, maintains, and upgrades Linux HPC clusters (compute, storage, and network) and applications in support of research computing environments. Provides end-user support for problem resolution, and training on Linux and HPC usage best practices. Provides technical expertise to improve HPC cluster performance and resiliency. Diagnoses, isolates, and resolves application and system technical problems. Develops scripts and automation to enhance operational services and service quality. Develops, implements, and documents system architectures, new capabilities, and operational standards. Supports compute, storage, and network technology evaluations and assessments.     Basic Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience supporting HPC Linux System Administrator based environment.  US Citizenship Required with the ability to obtain a Public Trust.  Demonstrated expertise in enterprise storage administration, including hardware and software troubleshooting, performance analysis, and issue resolution. Experience administering and configuring multiple file systems, including provisioning, optimization, and maintenance activities based on operational and technical requirements. Ability to provide technical recommendations related to storage zoning, capacity planning, and system spacing requirements. Experience managing storage quotas, including administration of soft and hard limits for end users and project teams. Strong customer support and communication skills, with the ability to work directly with users to maintain data hygiene, enforce storage policies, and ensure compliance with system limitations. Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, including administration, maintenance, patching, and upgrades in at least one of the following environments: CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Experience using configuration management and orchestration tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Cobbler to automate system deployment and administration tasks. Experience with enterprise system monitoring and alerting tools such as Ganglia, Nagios, Prometheus, or Zabbix. Working knowledge of core infrastructure technologies, including servers, storage systems, networking, databases, and virtualization platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, technical teams, and management personnel. Demonstrated ability to proactively identify risks, anticipate potential technical issues, and implement preventative solutions. Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results with minimal supervision. Strong commitment to customer service excellence and supporting mission-critical operational environments. Preferred Qualifications: Linux Operating System Certificate. RHEL Operating System Certificate. Net+ or other certificate paths entered or earned.
