Requirements
~1 min read- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Experience: Previous experience in a Special Education classroom setting
- Licenses or Certifications: Valid state certification in Special Education and content area
As a Special Education Teacher at AIM, you will work with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a dynamic public-school setting.
- Special Education Teachers need to be proficient in core academic subjects
- Strong understanding of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to effectively instruct students and manage classroom behavior
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students
- →Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload
- →Assess student performance and track progress
- →Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect goals and achievements
- →Teach small groups, catering to academically at-risk students in various categories
- →Collect, analyze, and use student data to inform instructional decisions
- →Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to discuss student progress
- →Prepare students for transitions between grades and graduation
- →Implement state learning standards and assessments
- →Submit weekly lesson plans and utilize technology for effective communication
- →Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives
- →Foster a positive and enthusiastic learning environment
- →Establish cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and understanding
- →Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet students’ needs
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential. Following a school day schedule.
- Possible district-wide travel; standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying
- Ability to adapt to diverse situations in the school environment
- Facilitate Admission, Review, and Dismissal meetings
- Strong family engagement and communication
- Record of results for academically at-risk students
