Centralized Collections Associate
The Centralized Collections Associate is a key member of our remote operations team, responsible for overseeing rent collection and delinquency processes across a student housing portfolio. This role directly impacts property performance by supporting timely cash flow and ensuring compliance with company policies, Fair Housing standards, and local and state regulations. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of ledgers, eviction procedures, and account management, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with residents, guarantors, and site teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and experienced in site-level property roles.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Monitor and manage accounts receivable across assigned properties, ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments, charges, move-out balances, and utility bill-backs.
- →Lead the delinquency and eviction process, including issuing notices, coordinating legal filings, and ensuring compliance with Fair Housing as well as applicable county and state laws.
- →Communicate effectively with residents and guarantors regarding balances, payment plans, and the overall collection process.
- →Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and assist with monthly closing procedures and reporting.
- →Collaborate with onsite teams to verify ledger accuracy and support move-out reconciliations and security deposit refunds.
- →Clearly explain account statuses and policies to stakeholders with professionalism and empathy.
- →Work independently in a fully remote environment. No travel required.
- 1+ years of site-level property management experience (leasing, assistant/community manager); student housing background strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of general ledger functions and account reconciliation.
- Proficient in navigating county and state eviction procedures while ensuring adherence to Fair Housing laws.
- Exceptional organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Proficiency in property management software and general computer systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
