The Operations Duty Supervisor (DOPS) supports our paramedic and operations teams by managing specialized tasks and resources. Using systems such as EMS Manager (Aladtec) and coordinating with NCC/SCC/CCC dispatch, the DOPS ensures scheduling and operational needs are met across all stations. Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to handle difficult conversations are essential for success in this role.


We are currently accepting expressions of interest for a Permanent Full-Time Operations Duty Supervisor 


Key Responsibilities

  • Triage front-line inquiries to efficiently manage resources.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in managing patient transfers.
  • Assist in coordination and scheduling of resources (employees and assets).
  • Prioritize and coordinate responses to calls, including return-to-service and out-of-service assets and employees.
  • Dispatch and deploy staff according to schedules, work orders, priorities, or protocols.
  • Monitor employee workloads, locations, and safety; implement fatigue management protocols.
  • Manage and deploy IT systems and medical orders for front-line crews.
  • Liaise with the Scheduling Supervisor to manage workloads during after-hours operations.
  • Review and approve overtime and duty expense forms for accuracy in accordance with payroll procedures.
  • Prepare and complete data reporting for leadership as required.
  • Communicate organizational updates impacting front-line service delivery across the province.
  • Record and log personnel interactions, incidents, and follow-up actions.


Working Conditions

  • 50–60% of the role is phone-based, interacting with front-line staff and dispatch.
  • Fast-paced and high-pressure environment requiring prioritization and escalation.
  • Shift work required: 4 on / 4 off rotation (2 day and 2 evening shifts per cycle)
    • Day: 07:00–17:00
    • Evening: 16:00–02:00 (On-call 02:00–07:00)
  • Must work independently without constant supervision.


Employment Requirements

  • Emergency Communications and Response Certificate or unrestricted registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP) recommended (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Excellent attention to detail and computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and ability to incorporate company policy into decision-making.


Assets

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Courteous telephone manner and confidence in having difficult conversations.
  • Knowledge of Alberta geography, rural communities, EMS scheduling, and resource management.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and adaptability.
