As a Radiation Effects Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the electrical survivability of our spacecraft by analyzing, designing, and testing robust electronic systems. This position requires hands-on experience in circuit design, component validation, and mitigating radiation effects for harsh aerospace environments.
- Support the electrical architecture and design of fault-tolerant systems optimized for radiation environments
- Actively participate in core electrical design, schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, hardware bring-up, and laboratory testing
- Coordinate and execute electrical radiation testing campaigns to upscreen COTS and automotive-grade components
- Develop fault-tolerant systems & operations into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team
- Assist in recruiting and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related technical field (Physics, Nuclear Engineering) with a focus on electronics
- A passion for hardware development, including hands-on electrical circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment
- Strong foundation in electrical design principles, including component selection, power distribution, and signal integrity
- Direct experience analyzing, designing, and testing electronic circuits for radiation effects
- Experience in testing and debugging complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
- Experience engineering fault-tolerant, high-reliability electrical hardware architectures
- US Citizenship or Green Card
Nice to Have
~2 min read- Experience testing electrical designs for space or high-radiation environments
- Advanced understanding of semiconductor physics and radiation interactions
- Experience configuring electrical test setups and running measurement campaigns at radiation test facilities
- Proficiency with ECAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer) and familiarity with MCAD (Solidworks)
