As ATB Business’ next Diversified Underwriter, you are someone who loves solving problems and leveraging your financial skills to find ways to create a meaningful impact for our clients. Your primary responsibility is to collaborate with Relationship Managers across Alberta to structure and recommend optimum credit solutions for ATB’s Diversified clientele. You are considered an experienced lender with a strong understanding of ATB's credit risk appetite and have 3 to 5 years experience structuring credit for commercial borrowers. Beyond your core responsibilities, your expertise will be leveraged by others on the Central Underwriting Team and various ATB project teams. While primarily a non-customer-facing role, you will periodically participate in or lead client meetings. You will report to the Diversified Director, Central Underwriting. ## Accountabilities * Collaborate with the Relationship Manager to assess risk and prepare credit assessments through completion of applications for credit which include: * Analyze financial statements and information to assess risk and determine which ATB financial services meet the client’s needs; * Financial modelling and sensitivity analysis of projections; * Capital structure analysis with recommendations on alternate capital structures; * Industry and bench-marking assessments, including key drivers and trends; * Valuation analysis, security analysis with relevant recommendations. * Experience with standard and non-standard margining protocol, Early Warnings Signals and Covenants * Ensure credit decisions/recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures. Enhancing and maintaining a strong relationship with ATB Risk and Credit groups. * Strong understanding of security valuation analysis. * Be a key member of the deal team motivating team members to ensure flawless execution for our clients. * Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior underwriters and sales team members, sharing credit knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of sound and consistent lending. * Focus on producing high volume, quality of loans * Comfortable working independently and regarded by peers as a strong lender. * An equal participant with Sales to help grow the portfolio. ## Skills, experience & requirements * 3 to 5 years of experience underwriting commercial business loans with a strong preference for individuals with previous Diversified underwriting experience. * Undergraduate degree in business, economics, or related business experience. * Strong analytical and financial analysis skills. * Excellent communication and presentation skills.
