The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) is now accepting applications for Housing Specialist, Announcement #2607. This is a full-time position located in the Texarkana, Texas, Housing Program office, with travel throughout the region. The position is responsible for providing Section 8 rental assistance, housing counseling and social service referrals to eligible applicants and tenants in a designated outreach area of the ATCOG region.

Your application MUST identify the required minimum qualifications for this position. You may use plain bond paper in order to effectively respond to all the KSA's.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor degree in business, public administration or related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 4 years demonstrated performance in public housing assistance programs or other social services programs; OR any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA's)

Knowledge of general office equipment required. Knowledge of use of a PC in a windows-based environment required. Knowledge of public housing rules and regulations preferred. Project Based Voucher experience preferred.

Skill/Ability Skills/abilities to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required. Must possess the ability to work in a team environment and independently. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must be organized and detail oriented. Skill to operate a computer with Microsoft office applications required. Ability to see, hear, reach, stoop, bend, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds required. Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Additional Requirement: must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license subject to an approved motor vehicle report and reliable transportation with valid proof of insurance for travel within the ATCOG region.
