Job Description: SAP S/4HANA PP/DS Hands-on Technical Consultant 

Location: Offshore 
Project: S/4HANA Greenfield Implementation — Infor to SAP Migration 
Client Environment: Highly configurable discrete manufacturing environment 

Role Overview 

We are looking for a hands-on SAP S/4HANA PP/DS Technical Consultant with strong configuration, build, troubleshooting, and implementation experience in Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling. 

This role requires someone who can work directly in the SAP system, configure PP/DS functionality, support integration with core PP, SD, and AVC, analyze planning issues, resolve defects, support testing cycles, and help stabilize the solution through go-live. 

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with business users, functional leads, technical teams, and offshore/onshore stakeholders, but the primary expectation is hands-on execution rather than high-level advisory. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Configure and support SAP S/4HANA embedded PP/DS functionality in a greenfield implementation environment. 

• Perform hands-on configuration for: 

• Production planning 

• Detailed scheduling 

• Finite capacity planning 

• Planning heuristics 

• Scheduling board setup 

• Resource and capacity modeling 

• Production constraints 

• Setup times and changeovers 

• Work on integration between PP/DS and core SAP PP, including MRP, planned orders, production orders, BOMs, routings, work centers, and resource/capacity master data. 

• Support integration of PP/DS with sales demand from SD and configurable product inputs from SAP AVC. 

• Translate business planning requirements into SAP configuration and executable planning logic. 

• Analyze current Infor planning processes and support the mapping of those processes into SAP S/4HANA PP/DS. 

• Build and validate planning scenarios for make-to-order, configure-to-order, and make-to-stock environments. 

• Troubleshoot PP/DS planning issues, scheduling failures, capacity mismatches, order sequencing issues, master data gaps, and integration defects. 

• Support master data validation related to materials, BOMs, routings, work centers, resources, production versions, calendars, and planning-relevant parameters. 

• Work with business users and functional teams during workshops, requirement clarification sessions, defect reviews, and solution walkthroughs. 

• Prepare and execute test scenarios for SIT, UAT, regression testing, integration testing, and mock cutover cycles. 

• Support defect triage, root-cause analysis, issue resolution, and retesting. 

• Work closely with technical teams for interfaces, reports, enhancements, data migration, and integration-related dependencies. 

• Support data migration validation for planning and manufacturing master data. 

• Assist with go-live readiness activities, cutover planning, hypercare, and post-go-live stabilization. 

• Document configuration decisions, test results, issue resolutions, and operational handover notes. 

Required Skills and Experience 

• 8+ years of SAP experience with strong hands-on experience in SAP PP and PP/DS. 

• Practical implementation experience with SAP S/4HANA embedded PP/DS. 

• Strong configuration experience in: 

• PP/DS planning board 

• Detailed scheduling 

• Finite capacity planning 

• Heuristics 

• Production planning integration 

• Resource and capacity setup 

• Order scheduling and sequencing 

• Strong understanding of SAP PP processes, including MRP, production orders, planned orders, BOMs, routings, work centers, production versions, and shop-floor execution flows. 

• Experience supporting manufacturing planning in discrete manufacturing environments. 

• Ability to troubleshoot planning, scheduling, and capacity issues directly in SAP. 

• Experience working with complex manufacturing environments involving product variability, configuration, constraints, and frequent planning changes. 

• Hands-on experience supporting SIT, UAT, cutover, go-live, and hypercare phases. 

• Ability to work with business users to understand planning issues and convert them into SAP configuration or process changes. 

• Strong defect resolution, testing, and documentation skills. 

Preferred Skills 

• Experience with configure-to-order or make-to-order manufacturing environments. 

• Exposure to SAP AVC integration with PP/DS or PP. 

• Experience with Infor to SAP S/4HANA migration programs. 

• Experience in consumer goods, industrial manufacturing, or other discrete manufacturing environments. 

• Understanding of how configurable products impact planning, scheduling, capacity, and production execution. 

• Experience working in global delivery models with onsite/offshore teams. 

• Ability to support both project implementation and post-go-live production stabilization.
  Candidate Profile 

We are looking for a strong hands-on PP/DS consultant who can get into the system, configure, test, troubleshoot, and resolve issues. This is not a purely advisory or solution-architecture role. The person should be able to work closely with business users and functional leads, but must be technically strong enough to own configuration, planning logic, defect resolution, and go-live support. 

The right candidate should be able to answer detailed questions on how PP/DS is configured, how planning results are generated, how capacity constraints are modeled, how scheduling issues are diagnosed, and how PP/DS integrates with PP, SD, and AVC.
