Atlas SP is seeking a senior operations and accounting leader to oversee balance sheet governance, operational ledger integrity, and liability management across the firm’s investment platform.

This role will be responsible for designing and maintaining a comprehensive internal balance sheet framework that provides transparency across products, financing structures, and operational activity. The Director will serve as the primary operations sign-off authority on ledger accuracy, cash reconciliation, and balance sheet integrity while building a robust internal control environment to support institutional growth.

The position requires deep experience across treasury operations, accounting, financial controls, and program leadership, with the ability to manage both onshore and offshore teams in a complex, multi-system environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and maintain a detailed internal Operations balance sheet view across all products, including clear breakdowns of interest income, financing costs, fees, and accruals.
  • Serve as primary operations sign-off authority in Operations on general ledger integrity and balance sheet accuracy.
  • Establish structured review frameworks to ensure completeness, transparency, and consistency across reporting periods.
  • Oversee end-to-end balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all variances are identified, investigated, and resolved.
  • Own the firm’s cash reconciliation framework, ensuring daily and periodic reconciliation accuracy across accounts partnering closely with Product Control function.
  • Oversee full balance sheet reconciliations across assets and liabilities.
  • Implement controls to ensure timely identification of breaks and escalation protocols.
  • Drive automation and process improvement across reconciliation workflows.
  • Lead the build-out and ongoing management of liability tracking across multiple trade capture systems.
  • Support accounting and reporting processes across leverage-backed facilities, bond issuances, and MRA (repo) liabilities.
  • Ensure accurate capture of financing activity, interest accruals, and repayment schedules across systems.
  • Partner with Treasury to monitor liquidity, funding structures, and liability exposure.
  • Design and strengthen internal controls across balance sheet processes.
  • Develop documentation standards, control matrices, and review procedures.
  • Lead the eventual build-out and implementation of an internal SOC 1 program.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure controls are embedded, tested, and audit-ready.
  • Enhance investor confidence through institutional-grade governance standards.
  • Coordinate control objectives and testing procedures with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Partner closely with Product Control to validate P&L, financing costs, accruals, and valuation-related balance sheet impacts.
  • Ensure alignment between Operations accounting records and product-level reporting outputs.
  • Coordinate with Treasury, Risk, Compliance, and senior leadership to ensure financial transparency and structural integrity across complex financing arrangements.
  • Manage and develop a team of onshore and offshore professionals.
  • Establish accountability frameworks, review protocols, and performance standards.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives related to system integration, process design, and operational scale.
  • Drive large-scale program initiatives focused on infrastructure build-out and institutionalization.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience across operations accounting, treasury accounting, or balance sheet control within alternative asset management, structured finance, or financial institutions.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex liability structures (repo, bond issuance, leverage facilities).
  • Strong experience in loan accounting and loan administration, including interest accruals, amortization schedules, borrower activity tracking, and reconciliation of loan-level data to the general ledger.
  • Strong background in balance sheet governance and ledger sign-off authority.
  • Experience designing and implementing internal control frameworks.
  • Prior exposure to SOC 1 environments or leading SOC program initiatives.
  • Experience operating across multiple trade capture or accounting systems.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-level teams, including offshore resources.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset; takes ownership and drives initiatives independently
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills

 

 

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed here.
