Aurora is on a mission to create a future of solar for all. Our award-winning software puts the power of data and technology into the hands of every solar professional to make solar adoption simple and predictable. Our software has designed millions of solar projects so far, empowering solar companies to sell, design, and install residential and commercial solar arrays accurately, seamlessly, and at scale.

We’re the team behind the engine powering how solar and storage projects are designed, and sold at scale. With deep expertise across software, solar, and AI, we build tools that turn complexity into clarity for our customers.

Our work sits at the heart of Aurora. We enable users to model real-world environments, design photovoltaic (PV) and storage systems, and move projects confidently from proposal through permit. From intelligent automation to 3D modeling to electrical simulation, we focus on making solar sale and design processes efficient, accurate, and more cost effective.

You’ll join a collaborative, high-performing team that moves quickly, challenges assumptions, and stays grounded in customer impact. Together, we’re shaping the future of solar and storage, and accelerating the transition to clean energy.

About the Role

~1 min read

Aurora is seeking a Vice President of Product & Design to lead a team of high performing product and design practitioners through the next phase of our product strategy as we build and scale new solar and storage software solutions across our platform. This role is accountable for collaborating across the organization to set the product vision, market validation, and driving execution in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Reporting to the CEO, and a member of the leadership team, you will own the why, what, and what's next behind Aurora’s product portfolio, translating our mission of creating a future of solar and storage for all into differentiated, market-leading software. You will operate at the intersection of customer needs, industry dynamics, and technical possibility balancing near-term impact with long-term platform bets.

This is a hands-on, people-centered leadership role for a product executive who thrives in ambiguity, actively coaches and develops product and design leaders, and builds strong cross-functional partnerships to deliver durable, high-impact products in complex, real-world industries like solar.

  • Develop and retain a strong product management and design organization

  • Establish operating rhythms that enable focus, accountability, and predictable delivery

  • Set a high bar for product quality, craft, and decision-making

  • Fosters a culture for intellectual curiosity and psychological safety

  • Promote a culture of excellence and collaboration aligned with Aurora’s values. Build and sustain a high-performing, collaborative culture that reflects Aurora’s values and empowers teams to do their best work.

  • Define and own Aurora’s product vision and multi-year roadmap, aligning company strategy, customer outcomes, and commercial priorities

  • Identify and validate new product opportunities across the solar and storage value chain (design, sales, permitting, installation, financing, asset management)

  • Lead hypothesis-driven discovery to de-risk investments and ensure we are solving high-value, industry-specific problems

  • Translate strategy into clear priorities, measurable goals, and shipped products

  • Establish and track product & design KPIs including adoption, retention, time-to-value, customer satisfaction, and revenue impact

  • Balance rapid delivery of customer-facing capabilities with investments in platform foundations (APIs, integrations, data, AI/ML)

  • Strongly understands installer, developer, and homeowner workflows across residential and commercial solar

  • Experience strategy (end-to-end workflows, reducing friction across proposal to design to permit)

  • Research + insight systems (continuous discovery, lightweight research ops, customer councils)

  • Quality bar as a business lever (reduce rework, increase speed-to-sale, increase accuracy/trust)

  • Champion customer insight in every decision, from early discovery through roadmap trade-offs

  • Build feedback loops that connect real-world jobsite and sales realities to product decisions

  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure technical feasibility, scalability, and quality

  • Partner with Go-To-Market leaders on packaging, pricing, and monetization

  • Rebuild cross functional confidence in Product & Design through reliable execution and clear communication.

  • Collaborate with Partnerships to expand ecosystem integrations and platform reach

  • Represent Product & Design with credibility at the executive and board level

  • 12+ years in product management, including 5+ years leading product and design teams at a senior level.

  • Proven experience building and scaling B2B SaaS products, ideally in complex or regulated industries

  • Has led organizations through significant change while improving and sustaining engagement and performance across Product, Design & Engineering.

  • Demonstrated success owning product strategy tied to business outcomes (ARR growth, retention, expansion)

  • Demonstrates deep passion for Aurora’s mission and values, leading by example through integrity and a strong sense of ownership in how decisions are made and teams are led

  • Brings a high degree of curiosity and learning orientation, consistently asking the right questions, seeking diverse perspectives, and exploring new ideas to drive innovation and continuous improvement

  • Experience leading early-stage or net-new product initiatives, where problems and solutions are not yet fully defined

  • Strong judgment in prioritization, trade-off decisions, and sequencing investments under uncertainty

  • Ability to move between visionary thinking and hands-on execution

  • Experience productizing AI/ML or LLM-powered capabilities (automation, content, decision support)

  • Comfort with platform-oriented products, including APIs, integrations, and data-driven systems

  • Strong analytical skills and experience defining and acting on product metrics
Ability to partner deeply with engineering without needing to be the technical architect

  • Prior experience with executives, boards, customers, and partners

  • Ability to influence cross-functionally and align stakeholders around a shared strategy

  • Clear point of view, grounded in data, customer insight, and market understanding
