Avalanche Studios Group and its incubation team are seeking a Tech Artist to join the development of an exciting new game prototype. You will work closely with a focused and collaborative team of designers, programmers, animators, to help shape immersive gameplay experiences from the ground up.
This role is centered around creating believable and impactful player interactions, with a particular focus on shaders and behaviors from materials in nature and immersive gameplay systems. You will help bridge the gap between art, technology, and gameplay by translating gameplay features into tactile, visually compelling in-world feedback.
The ideal candidate thrives in creative R&D environments, enjoys solving complex challenges, and is motivated by building new workflows and systems in unexplored territory. This position requires a high level of ownership, initiative, and collaboration, where your ideas and technical creativity will directly influence the player experience.
Create immersive visual and physical gameplay feedback
Prototype and develop interactive gameplay systems and environmental reactions
Build shaders, VFX, destruction setups, and procedural workflows in Unreal Engine
Collaborate with design, animation, engineering, and art to improve gameplay feel and readability
Help establish Tech Art pipelines and workflows within a fast-moving incubation team
Contribute creatively through rapid iteration, experimentation, and problem solving
Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine
Passionate about gameplay feel, player experience, and believable physical interactions
Experience working with VFX, shaders, materials, destruction, procedural workflows, and gameplay feedback systems.
Skilled at translating technical systems into intuitive and visually engaging player experiences
Motivated to work with realistic visuals and grounded material behavior
Comfortable taking ownership and working independently in ambiguous and evolving environments
Curious, self-driven, and motivated by creative problem solving
Experience creating 3D art assets
Experience working closely with animators and understanding animation pipelines
Understanding of traversal systems and physical gameplay interactions
Experience working in prototype-driven environments within small teams and rapid development cycles.
Enjoys pitching ideas and collaborating closely with game design teams

The Stockholm location
Our Stockholm office is situated in Södermalm, the beating heart of the city’s game industry. It’s a physical representation of our games – the lush vegetation of Just Cause and theHunter: Call of the Wild meets corroded metal straight out of Mad Max. Our hybrid model requires you to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to foster collaboration and creativity.
