The Quality Engineer role at East Hartford is responsible for planning and executing activities related to the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards and activities for customer processes, materials, and products to assure that customer expectations are met or exceeded while maintaining while optimizing cost and operational performance
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Develop, implement, and maintain quality control, quality assurance, and process control systems to meet internal and customer requirements.
- →Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective action activities (RCCA, 8D, 5 Whys), ensuring effective closed-loop resolution.
- →Perform product, process, and system audits and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions that were taken.
- →Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving first-pass yield, and lowering cost of poor quality (COPQ).
- →Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, PFMEA, and other quality planning documentation.
- →Apply statistical methods (SPC, capability analysis, gage R&R) to monitor and improve process performance.
- →Coordinate failure analysis for nonconforming or returned product; ensure timely and effective corrective actions.
- →Develops and implements methods and procedures for timely disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
- →Review manufacturing operation sheets and process changes to ensure compliance with quality and contractual requirements.
- →Perform gap analysis of customer requirements and establish plans to achieve compliance
- →Support new product introduction (NPI), including identification of customer-specific requirements for quality, traceability, and workmanship.
- →Coordinate and document training activities related to quality systems.
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace experience preferred.
- Experience with AS9100, ISO9001:2015, NADCAP, and AS13100 requirements.
- Experience performing internal and supplier audits.
- Experience working with major aerospace OEMs (e.g., Pratt & Whitney, GE Aerospace, Sikorsky).
- Experience performing internal and supplier audits.
- Experience in the use of statistical methods for process control, capability analysis and gage R&R studies.
- Prior DPRV experience for a major OEM is a plus.
Education Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline and/or equivalent experience, preferably in a technical field.
