The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a vital member of the Exceptional Student Services team, partnering with regional instructional leaders, campus leaders, and teachers to maximize student outcomes. In this role, you will set ambitious goals for student achievement and actively invest families in accomplishing them. You will design a powerful learning environment and deliver purposeful therapy to close communication and academic gaps, assessing disorders and tracking data to continuously refine your approach as an expert educator.

Responsibilities

  • IEP Management & Delivery: Review IEPs to ensure 100% implementation of top-quality speech therapy services. Collaborate with parents, general/special educators, and interventionists to build instruction-aligned IEPs.

  • Compliance & ARD Leadership: Ensure 100% compliance with Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) timelines by tracking Special Education Student Rosters weekly. Schedule, facilitate, and document Annual and Re-Evaluation ARDs prior to due dates.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with Diagnosticians, Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs), and Occupational Therapists for dual ARDs and evaluations, reporting comprehensive results within the Texas Education Agency (TEA) timeframe.

  • Assessments & Eligibility: Conduct formal speech and language initial evaluations and re-evaluations, demonstrating extensive knowledge in selecting and interpreting assessment tools in alignment with IDEA, TEA guidelines, and licensing boards.

  • Progress Tracking: Maintain daily Therapy Notes, Tracking Logs, ARD Logs, and Evaluation Logs. Monitor and complete quarterly progress reports and submit quarterly therapy logs to your manager.

  • RTI Support: Promote and efficiently implement Response to Intervention (RTI) across various tiers at the school level, offering high-fidelity intervention recommendations to the campus RTI team.

  • Education: Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from an accredited college or university.

  • Licensure: Valid Texas license as a Speech Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

  • Certification: National Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) Interns are accepted.

  • Skills: Expert knowledge in the evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of communication disorders using accepted measurements. Strong student behavior management skills and exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and organizational communication skills.

Requirements

  • Physical ability to work around small children (sitting, standing, running, climbing stairs) and lift/carry up to 40 lbs. in emergencies.

  • Ability to lift/move 20 lbs. regularly/occasionally, sit for extended periods, and work in confined spaces, overhead areas, or crawl on hands and knees.

  • Adaptability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including times of excessive heat or cold.
