Responsibilities

Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on BCRTA vehicles
- →
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- →
Inspecting and maintaining vehicle safety equipment
- →
Utilizing diagnostic software and testing equipment to troubleshoot issues
- →
Maintaining accurate maintenance records
- →
Helping manage parts inventory to minimize vehicle downtime
- →
Assisting with maintenance and repairs of BCRTA facilities as needed
- →
Fueling, cleaning, and preparing vehicles for service
- →
Collaborating with Operations and Maintenance staff to maximize fleet reliability

Participating in ongoing technical training and professional development

Following all BCRTA policies along with federal, state, and local safety regulations

Representing BCRTA with professionalism and a commitment to exceptional customer service

Assisting the Manager of Vehicle & Facility Maintenance with special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements
~1 min readCandidates must be physically capable of safely performing the essential functions of the position, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation physical qualification standards where applicable.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to seasonal weather conditions, vehicle exhaust, noise, and mechanical equipment.
Minimum two (2) years of automotive repair experience required
Diesel engine repair experience preferred
Experience with preventative maintenance programs and vehicle diagnostics preferred
Strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engine systems
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues
Familiarity with shop equipment and diagnostic tools
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to prioritize work independently while contributing to a team
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology
Ability to communicate effectively in English
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Valid Ohio Driver License
Clean driving record
CDL Class B with Air Brake Endorsement required, or ability to obtain
ASE Certifications preferred, or ability to obtain
