ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will manage mechanical construction projects from start-up through close-out. You will work closely with field teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and aligned with Hall’s safety, quality, and contract requirements.
Your day-to-day will look like:
- Manage assigned mechanical projects and take responsibility for overall project health.
- Work with field leadership to plan project start-up, execution, site coordination, and close-out.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, forecasts, procurement, change management, and documentation.
- Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project documentation.
- Manage RFIs, RFQs, change notices, change orders, design revisions, and related follow-up.
- Coordinate procurement, including subcontractors, suppliers, purchase orders, and subcontract documents.
- Review and approve subcontractor and supplier progress applications, payment certificates, and invoices.
- Visit project sites regularly and work closely with site foremen to understand project progress, risks, and required support.
- Support implementation of Hall’s Health & Safety Program and project quality control requirements.
- Compile final turnover and close-out documentation for the client.
You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive project management experience in construction.
- Mechanical construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems, or related building systems is considered an asset.
- Prior field experience as a Red Seal Plumber, Gas Fitter, HVAC Technician, or related trade is considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- P.Eng, PMP, or related designation is considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand contracts, drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Working knowledge of plumbing code, local specifications, and construction standards.
- Strong project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control skills.
- Ability to interpret cost reports and forecast costs to completion.
- Experience managing RFIs, RFQs, change notices, change orders, procurement, and close-out documentation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Project.
- Experience with eSUB, SiteDocs, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, HCSS, or similar construction software is considered an asset.
