- Shift: 1st

The Specialty Schegistrar is responsible for performing duties related to scheduling and pre-registration for upcoming services and assuring a positive experience for the patient.
- This individual is responsible for obtaining pertinent information from patients, other care providers and health records to ensure orthopedic visits are scheduled timely and with an appropriate provider. Gathers critical demographic elements from patients (e.g., name, date of birth, Social Security Number)
- Provides clear and accurate instructions/ information to patients regarding their upcoming visit, including preparation for procedures, testing, as well as addressing medical concerns patient has with care and/or provider.
- Addresses referred calls and messages, keeping an accurate record of appointments scheduled, changed, or cancelled to avoid over- or under-booking
- Interviews and pre-registers patients in a prompt, professional, courteous, and confidential manner
- Extrapolates pertinent medical condition related information from patient interviews and charting to determine appropriate provider for scheduling.
- Contacts third-party payers in order to secure benefits and coverage information for the purpose of scheduling patient and coordinating care with provider.
- Initiates and completes necessary clinical and medical necessity authorizations as directed by provider orders within specified timelines.
- Prepares (scribes) interrogatories using information recorded and contained within electronic health records in response to audit, regulatory or billing requirements.
- Explain to patients/guarantors financial responsibility and the able to induce patients/ guarantors to pay their estimated amount due.
- Thoroughly documents all conversations with patients, providers, clinical staff and non-clinical functionaries.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
- Certification as Nursing or Medical Assistant, or its equivalent or higher is required.
- Minimum of four years' experience in health care setting or its equivalent is required.
- Clinical, Surgical and medical diagnostic scheduling experience preferred.Strong problem-solving techniques and interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively both orally and with written word.
- Ability to interpret and follow patient care plans for the purpose of care coordination.
- Ability to work under time pressure while interacting in a helpful, courteous manner with a high degree of patient contact.
- Effective at adjusting to change, prioritizing duties, handling stress, and communicating face-to-face with employees, patients, and physicians when necessary.
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
