Responsibilities

Administrative and Clinical Oversight: Ensure effective 24-hour management of patient care delivery, staffing, and departmental operations. Assist the Director in assigning patient care activities for over 50 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs). Guide and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to achieve patient outcomes.

Program Development: Assists Director of Nursing with the development and implementation of departmental programs, initiatives, policies, and procedures.

Performance Review: Evaluate clinical performance of nursing personnel through annual performance appraisal process. Initiates disciplinary action, including termination.

Quality Improvement: Actively participate in the Quality Improvement Program, identify patient care issues, developing QA monitors and utilize evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and safety.

Budget Management: Prepare, implement, and monitor unit budgets, including capital equipment, budget variances, overtime, and vacancies, in alignment with financial goals. Works with administration to ensure most efficient and cost-effective allocation and use of resources.

Leadership and Culture: Foster a people-oriented, transparent, and collaborative leadership style; build a culture of teamwork, innovation, and accountability. Serve as a resource and preceptor for nursing staff and students; assist in selecting staff preceptors. Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate progress, changes, and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Professional Development: Maintain professional affiliations and pursue continuous professional development to stay current with healthcare trends.

Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.

Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statement

Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current license.
  • Current New Jersey licensure as RN required.
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALs required.
  • IV certification required.
  • CEN preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical ED experience
  • At least 3 years supervisor experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practice, quality improvement, and budget management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nursing offices and patient care areas; contact with staff, patients, families.

Frequent, prolonged walking, standing and/or sitting.

May handle emergency or crisis situations.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

$120,000-$143,000/Year
