If you’re passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative setting, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is looking for a Physician Assistant Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide direct supervision and day-to-day leadership of the PA team.
• Manage PA staffing, schedules, assignments, coverage, and workflow to ensure appropriate patient care coverage.
• Monitor PA performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to organizational policies and expectations.
• Conduct regular check-ins and performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback as appropriate.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, orientation, and retention of PAs.
• Develop and maintain PA onboarding, orientation, competency, and education processes.
• Ensure PA licensure, certifications, credentials, and other required documentation remain current and compliant.
• Coordinate with Medical Staff Services, Human Resources, Nursing, and other departments regarding PA-related credentialing and employment matters.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards applicable to the PA team.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
• Review and address operational issues impacting PA workflow, staffing, and patient care.
• Track and report departmental metrics, including staffing, productivity, patient volume, quality indicators, and other performance measures.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives involving PA services.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient access, provider utilization, and overall PA team performance.
• Serve as a resource and escalation point for PAs regarding clinical, operational, and workplace concerns.
• Facilitate communication between the PA team and hospital leadership, physicians, nursing, and other interdisciplinary departments.
• Assist with budget planning, supply management, and resource allocation related to PA services.
• Participate in meetings and committees as assigned and represent the PA team in organizational initiatives.
• Maintain appropriate administrative records, reports, schedules, and other documentation related to PA operations.
• Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned by leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Directly supervise and manage the PA team.
• Assign work and establish priorities based on departmental and patient care needs.
• Participate in hiring, performance management, corrective action, and other employment-related decisions in collaboration with Human Resources and leadership.
• Establish performance expectations and hold PAs accountable for meeting clinical, operational, and organizational standards.
• Support professional development and continuing education for the PA team.
• Ensure adequate staffing and coverage to support department operations.
Education Requirements:
• Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA-C) license in the State of New Jersey required.
• Current NCCPA certification required.
• Current BLS certification required; additional certifications may be required based on clinical specialty.
• Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant in a hospital, healthcare, or clinical setting required.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory, leadership, or management experience preferred.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or coordinating the work of Physician Assistants or other advanced practice providers preferred.
• Experience with provider scheduling, staffing coordination, performance management, and operational oversight preferred.
• Experience with quality improvement, regulatory compliance, credentialing, and healthcare performance metrics preferred.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with physicians, nursing leadership, Human Resources, Medical Staff Services, and other interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, workflows, and performance standards preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range:
$165,000 to $205,000 annually
