Medior Backend Software Engineer - Build Services

As a Software Engineer at Bitrise, you will contribute to building and improving the customer-facing services that define the Bitrise developer experience. You'll work closely with your team, Product, and Design to develop scalable and reliable systems that our users interact with every day. Your work will directly impact our customers by shipping features that improve how developers connect, configure, and run their CI/CD workflows.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on high-scale distributed systems and customer-facing product development. You'll help drive product and platform initiatives end-to-end: from shaping the solution together with Product and Design, through implementation, to seeing real customers use what you built.

The gross monthly salary for this position: 1,300,000–1,950,000 HUF

As a Backend Software Engineer at Bitrise you will

• Develop and maintain backend services that power customer-facing features, including build scheduling, Build Hub, Remote Development Environments, and Bitrise on AWS.
• Ship features end-to-end: from shaping requirements with Product and Design, through implementation, to production delivery.
• Contribute to designing scalable solutions that handle high volume of requests efficiently.
• Apply DevOps principles by building systems that are automatable, observable, and resilient by default.
• Participate in code reviews, RFC discussions, and architectural planning.
• Take ownership of operational excellence through on-call rotations and incident reviews.
• Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the services.
  

Key skills and characteristics

• Passion for backend development and building products that real users rely on.
• 2-4 years of experience with at least one backend programming language (Go preferred, but C#/Java/Python also acceptable).
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining production APIs consumed by external customers or integrations.
• Basic experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
• A strong desire for continuous learning and improvement, ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
• Familiarity with data-driven development
• Strong testing culture
  

What would really knock our socks off

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Experience collaborating with Product and Design in an iterative, customer-focused delivery cycle.
• Interest and knowledge of AWS EC2 and self-hosted CI runners.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with developer tooling or CI/CD workflows from a user perspective.
