Black Rock is seeking a Field-Driven Business Operator to lead the execution of the business and drive operational performance across Asphalt, Aggregate, Trucking, Maintenance, Quality Control, and Safety.

This is not a desk job.

The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who understands production, profitability, accountability, and execution. They are comfortable making decisions, solving problems, developing leaders, and holding teams to a high standard.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual serves as the bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring the business operates safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all operational departments and ensure strong execution across the business.
• Drive safety, production, equipment reliability, quality, and customer service.
• Build accountability at every level of the organization.
• Develop supervisors and managers into stronger leaders.
• Implement systems, KPIs, and processes that improve performance and consistency.
• Manage operational budgets, costs, and key performance metrics.
• Coordinate execution between field operations, maintenance, dispatch, sales, and administration.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, environmental regulations, and company policies.

Ideal Candidate

• Proven leader in asphalt, aggregates, mining, construction materials, heavy civil, logistics, or similar industries.
• Strong operational and financial understanding.
• Comfortable in both steel toes and spreadsheets.
• Able to earn respect from field crews while leading managers and administrative teams.
• Builder of systems, accountability, and operational discipline.
• Decisive, practical, and action-oriented.
• Develops people through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
• Focused on results without creating unnecessary turnover, conflict, or bureaucracy.
