Ontario Worker Administrator: 1-3 Month Contract
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the First Nation Ontario Works Administrator administers social assistance to members of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg in accordance with existing Provincial Legislation. This role provides the Ontario Works Program to residents of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg while adhering to the First Nation’s policies and procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree or Diploma in Social Services, or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
- Knowledge of Ontario Works Social Assistance Program and legislation, and other relevant government program
- Computer skills; specifically, Microsoft Office 365 and knowledge of other various financial software and spreadsheet applications
- Teamwork; able to collaborate effectively with others, communicate openly, foster strong working relationships, and contribute to group efforts
- Communication skills; able to effectively convey information and ideas to others, both verbally and in writing
- Self-motivated; able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Adaptable; able to adjust to changing circumstances, new tasks, and unexpected challenges
- Time management; able to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines
- Professionalism; able to demonstrate integrity, ethics, and respect for others in all interactions and behaviors
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:
The First Nations Ontario Works Administrator shall:
- Coordinate client intake procedures for Ontario Works and Income Support
- Manage Ontario Works and Income Support caseloads
- Administer Ontario Works programs according to legislative and policy requirements
- Account for program outcomes and resource utilization
- Maintain Ontario Works applications and Participation Agreements
- Develop administrative, database, and reporting procedures for the Ontario Works Program
- Market and develop community placements
- Monitor and assist participants with employment support and job searches
- Document non-compliance cases
- Document participant engagement in all Ontario Works components
- Monitor Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) Program Audits and implement audit findings/improvements
- Submit and present monthly reports to funding sources
- Liaise with MCSS Area Office representatives
- Liaise with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada District Office representatives
