Golf Assistant Coach

The golf assistant coach will assist the head coach in providing an environment for the golf team members to grow spiritually, socially, and physically as the team pursues competitive excellence while abiding by the University mission to grow Christlike character.

The ideal will serve as a role model while providing Biblically based counseling and discipleship to team members and act as “liaison” between coach and team.  Of utmost importance is the loyalty to the head coach and program above personal or “outside” agendas.  While knowledge and experience of the game is secondary to the counseling role, the candidate is expected to be knowledgeable of the game of golf so some playing and/or coaching experience is required, college level preferred.  The candidate must be willing to learn and then teach golf in accordance to the strategy of the head coach. 

• Assist the head coach in setting the season schedule
• Organize practice times and locations
• Schedule travel details and lodging arrangements for tournaments
• Assist with budget regarding team meals
• Oversee statistical data from practices and tournaments
• Oversee uniform and equipment purchases for the team
• Maintain social media presence for Bruins Golf
• Assist the head coach with weekly team meetings and discipleship
• Help in planning and organizing summer golf camps

An applicant must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each applicant must agree with and affirm the Bob Jones University creed, mission (see https://www.bju.edu/about/creed-mission.php) and core biblical doctrines regarding areas such as the Bible, the triune God, man and salvation, etc.  Employees are expected to maintain a conservative lifestyle and support Bob Jones University’s positions on issues such as beverage alcohol and addictive substances, creation, marriage and human sexuality and the sanctity of life, etc., (https://www.bju.edu/about/positions.php).
