About the Role

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the Company's health, safety, and risk management programs across all operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position maintains organizational independence while serving as a trusted partner to Farm Operations, Hatchery, Processing, Human Resources, and employees throughout the organization.

 

This role is not intended to function as a compliance "police force." Instead, the Safety Coordinator works alongside leaders and employees to identify risks early, remove barriers to safe work, and foster a culture where safety supports operational excellence and employee wellbeing.

 

Success is measured not only by regulatory compliance and incident prevention, but also by the trust earned across the organization and the ability to help teams perform their work safely, efficiently, and confidently.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to develop and continuously improve the Company's health and safety culture, programs, and performance.
  • Partner with leaders and employees across the organization to identify risks, implement practical solutions, and integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, management systems, training programs, and document control and records retention processes that support operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions that strengthen organizational learning and reduce risk.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, and Company document retention requirements.
  • Monitor safety performance, analyze trends, and provide actionable recommendations to the CEO and Leadership Team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement through coaching, communication, and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the role in support of the Company's evolving business needs.


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Marine Operations, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of progressive safety experience in a high-risk operating environment.
  • Experience supporting field operations rather than solely office environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred experience in offshore aquaculture, commercial diving, maritime operations, offshore energy



Certifications

  • Commercial Divers Certification (ADCI, DCBC, IMCA)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
  • Commercial Dive Safety experience
