Job Description: 

The Director of Development will develop, manage and expand BCI’s Giving Club, Major Gift and Annual Appeal components of the development program in order to effectively support its mission and strategic initiatives.

Duties:
  • Develop a robust and sustainable development enterprise that is a recognized leader in the developmental disability community
  • Develop an approach to cultivate and steward giving club members and a system to move them to major donors.
  • Evaluate and facilitate Annual Appeal to improve ROI through targeted approach.
  • Maintain high level of donor stewardship through regular communication and relationship building.
  • Lead the presentation of proposals to potential major donors, and lead stewardship efforts ensuring donor satisfaction
  • Schedule and coordinate donor engagements and on-site tours that will showcase BCI to existing and potential donors.
  • In collaboration with Director of Marketing & Communications, develop collateral materials for Giving Club and Annual Appeal.
  • Maintain donor relationship management platform following policy and procedure for all data entry
  • Work with CDO to develop and manage development budget
  • Other duties as requested by the CDO

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Non-Profit Management, Business or related field or commensurate experience.  Proven relationship building skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Self-starter, self-motivator, able to work with very little oversight.  Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and donor tracking database systems.  

Experience: Minimum five years of experience with fundraising as primary responsibility.  Proven experience with monthly donors, giving clubs and/or major gifts.

Physical Requirements:  Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, pull up to 25 pounds and able to reach, turn and twist above and below the waist.

Reports to: CDO (Chief Development Officer)
