The successful candidate will support the Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor – Finance in managing financial operations across multiple campuses while ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, operational efficiency, and effective financial reporting. This position will be based at our Gaborone Campus, Botswana.
Requirements
~1 min read- BCom Accounting and ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualifications.
- Membership with BICA is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5–8 years’ relevant experience in finance and accounting.
- Experience in managing finance operations within a multi-campus or multi-branch environment will be an added advantage.
- Experience in financial reporting, audits, reconciliations, and statutory compliance.
- Exposure to ERP systems and student management systems is preferred.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Manage and oversee finance operations across multiple campuses and ensure standardization of financial processes and controls.
- →Ensure strong internal controls are implemented and maintained across all financial systems and operations.
- →Lead and supervise finance teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned duties.
- →Prepare and manage monthly management accounts, financial statements, reconciliations, and analytical reports.
- →Monitor revenue processes, debtor collections, supplier payments, and bank reconciliations.
- →Ensure compliance with statutory, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- →Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, variances, and opportunities for improved decision-making.
- →Develop financial reporting models, dashboards, and analytical tools for management reporting.
- →Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- →Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, banks, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- →Support strategic financial planning, institutional growth initiatives, and continuous improvement of financial systems and procedures.
- →Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to finance teams across campuses.
- Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Sound knowledge of taxation principles and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Ability to analyze raw financial data and convert it into meaningful management information.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Great Plains, Campus Nexus, Academia, or similar systems is preferable.
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within set deadlines.
