The Licensing Specialist is responsible for business and revenue development of Scouting America licensing activities for a selected group of licensees.  This position supports the sales, development, and promotion of licensed products at retail and through distribution channels specific to Scouting America membership. This position is responsible for ensuring Scouting America requirements are upheld while maintaining effective working relationships between Scouting America and Licensees.

Essential Functions: 
  • Provides daily management and oversight of an assigned group of Licensees, including relationship development, product development and revenue growth of licensed products.
  • Maintains constant communication with existing licensees regarding product development timing, licensed product design and licensee marketing material review and approval, sales coordination, forecasting, agreement compliance and royalty report submissions and payment.
  • Reviews and evaluates inbound license applications to determine new licensing opportunities based on the requirements established by the licensor.
  • Supports licensees in growing business and revenue opportunities based on Scouting America Licensing initiatives, product, and productivity.
  • Researches, identifies, and supports business development opportunities within assigned licensee groups.
  • Manages communications with specific audiences as defined in the communications plan.
  • Creates, proposes and negotiates business terms with existing or potential licensees who will use the organization’s intellectual properties in working with management; reviews and prepare license agreements and renewals.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring, and training to licensing staff as needed.
  • Participates in licensee site visits to verify performance capabilities.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.    
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
Qualifications: 
  • 3+ years of prior product brand licensing experience is required.
  • Knowledge of legal and technical terms within the licensing and brand management field.
  • Knowledge of licensing agreements, royalties, intellectual property rights, and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of retail and distribution channels relevant to company-licensed products
  • Knowledge of business development principles, including market analysis, opportunity identification, and relationship building; and contract law and negotiation principles
  • Experience reviewing agreements, contracts, and marketing materials with accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including presentations and negotiation
  • Ability to identify and solve problems effectively
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including licensees
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on incomplete information and changing circumstances
  • Ability to work effectively with a team and collaborate with colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools, including Office Suite, Teams and Sharepoint.
  • Knowledge of Scouting Program strongly preferred.

Salary Range is $58,000 - $72,500
