Role Description
The Senior Staff Accountant will work with the Finance Controller on the overall financial management of the Resort including Club Management, HOA and Real Estate Venture to ensure the Resort's financial success. The position will report directly to the Brasada Finance Controller and will work closely with the Brasada Accounting Team.
General Responsibilities
- Works with and supports the Resort's accounting and financial systems including accounts payable, accounts receivable, labor management, and payroll administration.
- Manage the processing and auditing of bi-weekly payroll to ensure accurate and timely compensation for all team members in compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state laws.
- Maintains payroll records, reconciliations, deductions, benefit adjustments, garnishments, and payroll-related reporting with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Partners closely with the People & Culture team and department leaders to resolve payroll discrepancies, audit labor reporting, and ensure accurate employee data management.
- Assists with the monthly financial closing process including the posting of journal entries.
- Prepare monthly financial reports ensuring the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and the company's financial reporting standards.
- Assists in the monthly balance sheet reconciliations including fixed assets, payroll liabilities, and benefit-related accounts.
- Helps prepare monthly tax reporting and ensure accurate sales, use, occupancy, and payroll tax filings as required by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Assists with providing required information for periodic internal and external audits including payroll and labor-related documentation.
- Leads or assists in the daily reconciliation of cash and credit cards.
- Continually look for opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and resort operations through the leveraging of technology and processes.
- Upholds internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and payroll processing.
- Upholds the Resort's values of caring and respect in every interaction.
- Ability to communicate in detail in all required meetings.
- Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Skills/Traits
- A degree or extensive training and experience in an accounting field is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with accounting software systems.
- Five years or more of related experience required.
- Experience processing payroll and knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour compliance, and payroll systems strongly preferred.
- Experience with Homeowner Associations (HOA) and real estate development is a plus.
