Bree is a consumer finance platform that brings better, faster, and cheaper financial services to over half the Canadian population who live paycheck to paycheck. We operate in a huge, but overlooked market in a country with the least amount of financial technology innovation in the developed world. Our first act is to become the cheapest and best provider of short-term credit to the 20 million people in Canada who live paycheck to paycheck.

More than 800,000 Canadians have already signed up with Bree and we believe we are just scratching the surface. We are in an exciting place where we have product market fit, explosive growth, and a clear path to becoming one of the most important FinTechs in Canada.

We are at 8-figures of annualized revenue, growing double-digit monthly, profitable, and have had zero voluntary employee churn. We were part of Y Combinator in 2021 and raised a $2M seed round shortly after.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure to own Bree's entire platform layer - from cloud architecture to deployment pipelines to security posture. You'll set the standards, make the foundational decisions, and build the systems that everything else runs on. This is high ownership, high impact work at a profitable, fast-growing Canadian fintech. We are AI-first and leverage the best available tools to make our lives easier, reduce toil, and help us move faster with better judgment.

  • Optimize PostgreSQL databases for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and capacity planning.

  • Implement and enforce best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation to achieve consistent and automated deployments.

  • Own Bree's security posture - secrets management, IAM, audit logging, encryption at rest and in transit, and access controls for sensitive customer financial data.

  • Establish robust monitoring and alerting solutions with Grafana/Datadog to ensure proactive detection and resolution of performance bottlenecks and system issues.

  • Drive improvements in system observability, including metrics, logging, and tracing, to enable data-driven decision-making and incident response.

  • Demonstrated experience building and owning production infrastructure

  • Expertise in serverless architecture using AWS Lambda or similar frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Pulumi, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.

  • Experience designing and owning CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
