JOB SUMMARY:  As a member of the Maintenance team and working closely with Production Supervisors, Operators and the Quality team, this experienced Maintenance Electrician is responsible for supporting production by keeping the equipment running at optimum efficiency and responding to and repairing “line down” issues.  Key priorities include maintaining and improving machine reliability to achieve production scheduled attainment, finished product acceptability, safe plant operations, and facility food safety and security. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Perform scheduled and regular electrical preventative maintenance. 
  • Diagnose and repair equipment failures typically under “line-down” pressure. 
  • Install and setup new and used equipment. 
  • Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices. 
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment. 
  • Interpret and modify PLC programs – use laptop/ladder logic to troubleshoot. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. 
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems using meters and schematics. 
  • Follow work assignments as specified and detailed on work orders or from the direction of the team lead or Maintenance Manager; includes the documentation of that work. 
  • Requisition necessary parts and materials for repairs within appropriate timeframes. 
  • Comply with OSHA and other government regulations in regards to equipment safety and machine safeguarding. 
  • Provide reliable and accurate information to ensure line efficiency and communicate end of shift pass downs. 
  • Work to ensure minimum downtime is experienced through effective organization and time management. 
  • Complete shift documentation accurately and adhere to all daily standard work. 
  • Comply and adhere to GMP (good manufacturing practice) guidelines, safety protocols, and company policies. 
  • Follow all appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP's). 
  • Responsible for the health and safety of self and co-workers. 
  • Perform routine housekeeping of assigned work area and adjacent areas. 

 

 

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience  
  • General Journeyman Electrical License  
  • Experience in a manufacturing/food production environment preferred; self-directed work team experience a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of electrical control/drive systems, single and 3-phase power up to 480V and variable frequency drives (VFD’s). 
  • Understanding of National Electric Code (NEC) and Oregon Electric Code. 
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment, set priorities to meet deadlines, handle multiple projects, and show good judgement when making decisions and solving problems under pressure.  
  • Ability to understand and communicate instructions in English. 
  • Ability to provide own hand tools. 

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS 

  • Position may require repetitive movement, bending and twisting, using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). 
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds. 
  • Able to work in an environment containing nuts, peanuts, dairy, grains and other allergens. 
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week. 
  • Must be available for all shifts, nights, weekends, some holidays, occasional overtime, if necessary. 
  • Weekend and holiday work will be mandatory with rotating responsibilities for assisting with emergency repairs, plant preventative and work order-based maintenance activities
