Location: UK or Poland (residents only – relocation and sponsorship not provided) Role purpose --- Content Creation Lead is responsible for the creation, quality assurance and delivery of content assets for use in integrated learning and assessment products. This role ensures that all learning and assessment content assets meet the desired pedagogical outcomes and deliver value to customers. Additionally, the role will drive efficiencies and speed-to-market by identifying opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing content as well as work with new toolsets to auto-generate and calibrate/quality assure learning and assessment content. Role context The role is part of a team accountable for the design, development, and performance management of the digital and analogue products that enable the [For Schools / Higher Education / Work] propositions. They ensure the right product mix, quality, and innovation to support the strategic direction set by the Proposition Directors. This team ensures products are commercially viable, scalable, and aligned with technology, delivery, and customer needs.​ Main accountabilities Leadership & management · Leads and develops a high-performing team of English language assessment, and learning content creation experts, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure all deliverables serve customer needs and meet pedagogical, quality, and compliance standards. · Manages, prioritises and allocates resources effectively, including the sourcing of external expertise, as required, across projects to ensure effective and timely delivery of diverse responsibilities and project deliverables throughout the entire product lifecycle. · Ensures appropriate training and development is in place for internal and external staff (writers, editors, item writers) as required, building capacity in expert suppliers to meet business demand · Creates an inclusive organisational culture, is aware of own biases and acts to mitigate against these. Ensures people are valued and treated equitably, with support for people’s well-being and mental health at all times. Learning and Assessment Content Creation · Collaborates with Learning & Assessment Design, Proposition and Portfolio leads, Supplier management team to scope/define and prioritise projects requiring learning and assessment content (items) · Manages the commissioning and development of content for learning and assessment products that align with global (and national) standards and best practices, ensuring that content is both relevant and pedagogically sound and adheres to internal taxonomies and metadata conventions. · Manages the quality assurance frameworks handed over by Learning & Assessment Design and leads processes for content creation and assessment item development, ensuring adherence to the established standards for accuracy, relevance, and efficacy. · Monitors and manages systems and frameworks to assure product quality and regulatory compliance in alignment with British Council brand standards, EDI and accessibility guidelines, AI policies, safeguarding, working with Learning & Assessment design to repair and/or improve underperforming or non-compliant content. · For assessment content, monitors and manages systems to assure appropriate item performance and health metrics, in line with defined assessment security and validity standards. · Designs and manages content creation and QA processes using new automation tools and authoring platforms to generate, calibrate and productionise content and items for use across the portfolio · Manages/prepares project and product briefs and guidelines to instruct internal and external suppliers and stakeholders in the creation and quality assurance of learning and assessment content, which will include print, digital content and associated media assets (video, audio, artwork, photography, answer keys, scoring schemes, rubrics · Ensures clear and complete handover points from Assessment & Learning Design to Content & Asset Management team · Works with Content & Asset management to monitor all copyright records for proprietary and 3rd party assets, clearing all required rights prior to product launch Relationship and Stakeholder management · Ensures teamwork in close collaboration with Product, UX, Research & Impact, Learning & Assessment Design and Content & Asset Management teams and functional experts in Taxonomy, EDI, safeguarding to generate and quality assure assessment and learning content which aligns to customer, market and business needs. Commercial and resources management · Manages schedules, resources and costs for content development phases of learning and assessment products. Applies agreed systems and processes to plan and monitor project progress to ensure that content development is running to schedule and on budget. · Identifies suppliers, tenders and procures services from a full range of suppliers including sole traders, packagers, publishers, consultants, item writers, editorial service providers, designers, illustrators, video, audio and software producers. In collaboration with Supplier Managers, actively seeks to maximise value for money when acquiring resources and services. Consultancy, analysis and problem solving · Monitors and manages all content creation and quality assurance processes and systems, actively seeking opportunities to find efficiencies, improve speed-to-market and improve customer outcomes. * Addresses challenges in content and assessment generation and QA processes and resolves issues with third-party vendors or content teams in a timely manner. Role specific skills · Extensive experience in English language teaching publishing and/or assessment item development with a proven track record of producing complex, multi-component learning and/or assessment products · Project Management of digital and print products throughout the complete product lifecycle · Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards related to educational content, such as Ofqual and safeguarding policies. Role specific knowledge and experience Minimum / essential requirements · Experience of English language teaching and/or assessment · Relevant experience of working in a global business · Knowledge and Experience of product development and/or management including print, digital and online · Experience of procuring goods and services from external suppliers, negotiation · Experience of managing, training, co ordinating and mentoring dispersed, virtual teams · Full time residency in the UK or Poland with unlimited right to work Desirable · Higher English Language Teaching or Assessment or Applied Linguistics qualification or in a related field (PhD, Masters, DELTA, Dip TESOL or equivalent) · Understanding of Accessibility and EDI as applied to learning and assessment · Experience of pretesting/piloting/user research & testing methods · Knowledge of Intellectual Property/copyright · Experience of contract negotiation and management · Knowledge of printing, distribution · Experience of using Agile product development and management approaches Language Requirements --- · Written and verbal fluency in English British Council values and behaviours British council values and behaviours are applicable across our organisation, in all roles and at all levels.
