Solicitor - Financial Services (2+ Years’ PQE)
A rare opportunity for a solicitor to join our highly regarded Financial Services team and develop internationally marketable skills in a fast-paced, complex, technically challenging and rapidly growing area of the law. Based in Auckland, and working nationally with our offices in Wellington and Christchurch, we support nationally significant clients to thrive in the dynamic financial services industry.
About the opportunity
We are seeking a motivated solicitor with at least two years’ post-admission experience to support partner Scott Abel and senior associate, Andrew Suggate. In this role, you'll work with a diverse client base which includes both domestic and international financial institutions, regulators, FinTech enterprises, and other financial service providers such as banks, fund managers, financial advice providers, brokers, payments businesses, and cryptocurrency service providers, all extending across New Zealand and abroad.
This includes work in relation to:
- the provision of financial services and the establishment, governance and disclosure of offers of financial products
- financial product design, establishment and distribution
- conduct and regulatory oversight of financial services businesses
- financial advice and related product distribution arrangements
- FinTech's and payments (including new product structuring)
- licensing and prudential supervision requirements
- financial services regulatory advice including climate reporting, AML/CFT compliance, CCCFA, etc.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is passionate and adaptable with a keen interest in this area and who will enjoy the challenge of advising sophisticated clients in the intellectually challenging and highly complex financial services law environment. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- 2+ years' PQE in either financial services regulatory, financial markets, or banking and finance
- a genuine interest to build a career and refine your skills in financial services law
- proven academic ability, with a willingness to tackle complex issues and the ability to think critically
- the ability to learn quickly, work with others seamlessly and draft to a high degree of quality.
