Job Summary:
The Graphic Designer will work in various capacities for the Communications and Marketing Department. There is a wide variety of responsibilities including work on page layout, logo creation, video production, photography, and digital creation for social media. The Graphic Designer is a part-time position with a normal workweek of 15-20 hours. This position is completely on-site. Only local candidates will be considered. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Essential Functions:
Graphic Design
1. Work collaboratively on the design of Park District marketing materials, including (but not limited to) the seasonal program guide, Fitness Center seasonal brochures, campaigns and promotions, signs and posters, digital graphics for social media, and agency and event logos.
2. Design visually engaging layouts, graphics, and logos for multiple digital and print mediums.
Video Production & Photography
1. Take photographs and video footage.
2. Edit and produce videos.
Website & Social Media
1. Maintain a content management system website, as well as a variety of social media platforms, making sure that the information is current, accurate and appropriate.
2. Create, edit, and upload a variety of videos that are designed to promote Park District programs and events.
3. Make sure that all Park District materials that are viewed by the public comply with the agency’s rules of branding and consistency.
Events
1. Attend Park District special events to collect video, pictures, and assist with sponsorship needs.
2. Represent the Park District at community events and programs.
Support
1. Assist with creating and editing flyers and advertisements, helping to manage the Alcott Center lobby display case, attending meetings, and drafting letters.
2. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• At least 1 year of experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, and social media. Experience in video production and photography preferred.
• A valid class ‘D’ Illinois driver’s license is required.
