Bundaberg Sugar has an opportunity for three dual roles undertaking the duties of a Traffic Officer during the crushing season and duties of Maintainer Leading Hand during maintenance season.
Responsibilities
~2 min readDuring crush season, the Traffic Officer ensures the safe, orderly, and efficient flow of traffic and is responsible for the scheduled movement of track-mounted vehicles, cane transport, traffic office and cane railway maintenance operations.
During maintenance season, the Maintainer Leading Hand leads and facilitates Navvy crews to perform cane railway maintenance and undertake duties of an asset maintainer.
The successful applicant’s responsibilities include;
- →Control of the safe and efficient movement of track mounted vehicles, maintenance personnel and third-party persons across the entire cane rail network.
- →Perform prompt, timely, clear and relevant communication with all parties and other personnel regarding harvest and transport issues using a range of communications equipment.
- →Develop and adjust schedules during the crushing season to meet the requirements of the Mill and Growers.
- →Adjust harvesting quotas using TOTools and other transport management software to ensure a continuous cane supply and equity between harvest groups.
- →Observe closely all performance, rates of production, equipment performance, quality control criteria and losses and record and report observations.
- →Prepare and distribute a range of administrative reports associated with the cane transport function.
- →Supervision of timesheets and associated administrative tasks for cane transport personnel.
- →Lead and facilitate Navvy crews to perform cane railway maintenance and/or maintenance as directed by the supervisor.
- →Undertake the duties of an asset maintainer.
- A sound understanding of the Cane Supply Code of Practice and Asset Management System
- Experience in the development of safe working documents
- Experience in the Risk Assessment process for level crossings
- Experience in a scheduling role working in a complex, multi-faceted environment.
- Current drivers licence
- A Certificate 3 in Rail Maintenance is desirable.
