Under the supervision of the Treatment Court Coordinator, serves as case manager for the drug court program. Duties include interviewing clients, monitoring compliance with and progress toward program goals, maintaining records and case files for each participant, recording accurate data for treatment court grant reporting, assisting participants with referrals to community services, prepare individual treatment plans and progress reports. Attend and present in treatment team meetings and biweekly court sessions.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct client intake and follow-up interviews.
  2. Administer screening interviews with clients who are referred to the drug treatment court program and schedule potential participants for treatment assessments.
  3. Gather comprehensive information about participants through police, prosecutors, and/or other agencies to evaluate data and determine participant’s needs.
  4. Supervise participants in the program to ensure program compliance and success.
  5. Collect urine other drug testing specimen and perform preliminary breath testing (PBT) of drug court participants.
  6. Make community resource referrals for participants regarding medical concerns, housing, counseling, transportation, etc.
  7. Prepare biweekly progress notes for each case and enter in data collection system.
  8. Prepare, copy and distribute the biweekly report for treatment team meetings.
  9. Present verbally to treatment team recommending appropriate sanctions/incentive options to assigned judge and assistant prosecuting attorney.
  10. Appear and testify in court as program representative when required.
  11. Collect fees and maintain appropriate records in state’s data collection system.
  12. Collect and review program data periodically.
  13. Attend all drug treatment court sessions.
  14. Attend educational conferences and recommend changes to program as national standards change.
  15. Work with the other case manager to ensure proper case coverage for treatment courts as needed.
  16. Comply with national, state and local standards and policy in case management and team interactions.
  17. Complete all case reviews, data entry and reporting in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

Candidates for the Men’s Drug Treatment Court must be male to conduct participant drug testing.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college program in social work, sociology, psychology, public administration, business administration, criminal justice or a related field.

One year experience in a responsible position such as social work, counselor, probation officer in a substance abuse treatment program or criminal justice court/agency/department. One or more years of experience in a substance abuse treatment setting are desirable.

Must possess a valid State of Michigan drivers’ license and vehicle for transportation in the course of duties.

The qualifications listed above are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties of the job.
