Overview of Benefits:
Canton Township is currently accepting applications for the Police Officer position. In addition to filling the budgeted vacancy, an employment eligibility may also be created to fill any additional vacancies that may arise in the next twelve months.
Requirements
~1 min read- If selected for contingent offer candidates must provide proof that they have successfully completed the MCOLES Physical Fitness Test within the past 12 months.
- Candidates will have up to 45 days after the interview to complete this requirement.
- Candidates that have a current fitness test certificate (dated within the past 12 months at the time of application) will be considered to meet this requirement.
- MCOLES Physical Fitness Test is required for all candidates, including current licensed Police Officers.
- Applications must be completed and submitted to be considered for this job posting.
- Applicants will receive a system-generated confirmation email immediately after their online application has been accepted. - Candidates selected to move on in the hiring process will be scheduled an oral interview as follows:
- Applications received by Wednesday, July 8, 2026, will be scheduled for an interview on or after Monday, July 13, 2026.
- Qualified candidates selected for the oral interview will be notified via email.
- Email will contain information on how to prepare for the oral interview – email will include a link that contains a list of interview questions to help candidates prepare for the interview.
- Candidates must confirm their attendance by responding to email.
- Applicants who are not invited to interview will receive an email notification they are no longer being considered.
- Upon conclusion of oral interviews, candidates will be notified of the status of their interview.
- All offers of employment are contingent on the results of further interviews, reference checks, thorough background investigation and working history verification, driving history verification, psychological examination, physical examination/drug screen, and satisfactory completion of a one-year probationary period.
