About the role:

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support optometrists in delivering highquality eye care services. This role assists with all aspects of patient care, supports clinical workflows, maintains exam rooms and equipment, and participates in the care and training of contact lens patients.

The Ophthalmic Technician plays an important role in patient intake, diagnostic testing, documentation, and patient flow management. This position also supports infection control practices, supply management, and patient education, while ensuring care is delivered in compliance with HIPAA, departmental policies, and clinical standards.


We're looking for someone who has:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three months of related experience or training preferred
  • Ability to collect and document patient information, medical history, and chief complaints
  • Ability to perform visual acuity testing, applanation tonometry, and other ophthalmic testing as directed
  • Ability to manage patient flow and incoming clinical tasks in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and providers in person, by phone, or through electronic communication
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and attention to detail when documenting in the electronic health record

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Experience working in an eye care, ophthalmology, or optometry setting
  • Proficiency using ophthalmic equipment such as lensometers, visual field analyzers, and pachymeters
  • Experience assisting with contact lens fittings and providing patient education on lens care and hygiene
  • Experience ordering, verifying, and dispensing contact lenses
  • Comfort stepping in as an apprentice optician when staffing needs require
