About the role:

OpsGuru's value to our customers centres around our ability to provide deep technical guidance based on their business needs. We achieve this by assigning small, virtual teams of highly skilled individuals to each client.

We are seeking a Contract Data Engineer to join an agile delivery team and support the design, development, and deployment of data engineering and advanced analytics solutions. The role involves working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, production‑ready data pipelines and analytics capabilities from proof‑of‑concept through deployment and sustainment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain optimized, production‑grade data pipelines using Python and SQL.
  • Support end‑to‑end delivery of AI and advanced analytics solutions, from initial PoC through deployment and ongoing sustainment.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and platform engineers to enable scalable, reliable MLOps and data engineering workflows.
  • Apply software engineering best practices, including version control, branching strategies, peer code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
  • Ensure data solutions meet enterprise standards for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Communicate technical findings, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot complex and ambiguous problems, adapting solutions as requirements evolve.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives) and manage tasks effectively within sprint commitments.
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience writing clean, efficient, and maintainable production code.
  • Hands‑on experience with data engineering, analytics pipelines, and integrations in a modern data platform environment.
  • Familiarity with MLOps concepts, deployment patterns, and collaboration with ML/AI teams.
  • Experience working in a DevOps-oriented environment, including Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an agile delivery model.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to work through ambiguous requirements.

At OpsGuru, a Carbon60 Company, we believe in bringing our whole, authentic selves to work. By embracing and sharing our unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, we learn from one another, spark innovation, and foster a dynamic environment where everyone can thrive and do their best work.

We also understand the importance of balance between career and personal life. We seek individuals who thrive in a culture of accountability and are comfortable navigating ambiguity as we continue to adapt and grow.

OpsGuru is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and encourage applications from individuals of all abilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates participating in any stage of the selection process. If you require support, please contact us at careers@opsguru.com
