Position Summary
The ASC/OBL Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for driving a system-wide culture of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement across CVAUSA's Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) and Office-Based Catheterization Labs (OBLs). This role partners closely with each location’s leadership, as well as members of the CVAUSA Quality and Safety Department, to build and standardize quality and safety programs, identify and close quality and safety gaps, and support centers in maintaining survey readiness. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented healthcare quality professional who can both design programs and roll up their sleeves to implement them at the center level.

Position Summary
The ASC/OBL Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for driving a system-wide culture of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement across CVAUSA's Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) and Office-Based Catheterization Labs (OBLs). This role partners closely with each location’s leadership, as well as members of the CVAUSA Quality and Safety Department, to build and standardize quality and safety programs, identify and close quality and safety gaps, and support centers in maintaining survey readiness. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented healthcare quality professional who can both design programs and roll up their sleeves to implement them at the center level.
Patient Safety and Risk Management
- Track and review adverse events, near misses, and patient complaints across all ASCs and OBLs, ensuring incidents are being reported, escalated, and resolved appropriately.
- Train center staff and leadership on quality & safety best practices, including incident reporting expectations, how to perform adverse and routine peer reviews.Help establish a consistent, transparent reporting culture across the network.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) meetings following safety events to identify contributing factors and implement corrective action plans.
- Develop and publish recurring (monthly/quarterly) safety education resources and communications to reinforce best practices across centers.
- Serve as a resource for CVAUSA's ASCs and OBLs to support survey readiness.
- Conduct gap analyses at each location to assess compliance with CMS, state, and OSHA requirements, then build and track action plans to close identified gaps.
- Conduct random audits across centers to evaluate documentation quality and identify trends requiring correction or training.
- Conduct gap analyses of each center's infection control program to identify areas needing development.
- Work with leadership at the center to enforce and monitor compliance with infection control protocols.
- Serve as CVAUSA's liaison to ASCs/OBLs for guidance on illness outbreaks and required public health reporting, in coordination with Regulatory.
- Ensure staff training on proper hazardous waste disposal, sharps safety, and related hazard controls.
- Ensure ongoing safety training and emergency preparedness drills are occurring across centers.
- Partner with leadership to develop policies that reinforce a culture of safety, accountability, and transparent reporting.
- Complete quarterly quality and safety benchmarking across the network.
- Monitor completion of required quality studies at each center; assist centers in designing and completing studies where gaps exist.
- Collaborate with ASC and OBL leadership and CVAUSA’s Quality & Value Committee to set quality improvement priorities and drive quality improvement initiatives across the network’s ASCs and OBLs.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, risk management, or regulatory compliance, preferably within an ASC, OBL, or outpatient surgical setting.
- Working knowledge of CMS Conditions for Coverage, state licensing requirements, OSHA standards, and accreditation body standards (e.g., AAAHC, AAAASF, The Joint Commission).
- Experience conducting audits, gap analyses, and/or mock surveys.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and influence staff across multiple sites.
- RN license or clinical background.
- CASC (Certified Administrator Surgery Center), CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality), or CIC (Certified in Infection Control) certification.
- Experience working across a multi-site healthcare organization or management services organization (MSO).
- Familiarity with root cause analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality improvement frameworks, including Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, Lean, and/or Six Sigma,
- Experience with measuring quality performance generally, and for procedural care in particular, and with using data to drive performance improvement.
- Regular travel to CVAUSA ASC and OBL locations is possible for on-site training support and assessments, audits, and other.
