Within Schwab Technology Services, the Workplace Services Engineering (WSE) organization is transforming how individuals experience financial wellbeing at work. This team partners with leading employers to deliver innovative retirement, equity, and workplace financial solutions that support millions of participants. As part of a fast-growing, high-impact business, you will contribute to platforms and capabilities that influence how people plan, save, invest, and achieve financial success.

In this Associate Software Development & Engineering role, you will play a meaningful part in advancing Schwab’s workplace technology strategy by contributing to the design, development, and modernization of scalable platforms that power critical workplace applications like Equity Administration, PCRA and Retirement Plan Services for millions of participants.

 You will collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams to solve complex technical challenges, strengthen platform performance and resilience, and deliver seamless user experiences on a scale. This includes engaging in modernization efforts such as API development and foundational system improvements, supporting integration and partnership capabilities, and helping address risk and compliance requirements through thoughtful engineering solutions. You will also gain exposure to emerging technologies, including AI-driven innovations, to improve efficiency, quality, and outcomes. Success in this role requires adaptability, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset, as you work alongside experienced teams to influence solutions, continuously learn, and grow your impact over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 1+ years of progressive experience in software development and engineering
  • Foundational experience with .NET technologies, including .NET Core / .NET 6+
  • Programming experience using C#
  • Exposure to ASP.NET Core for web services and RESTful API development
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, preferably SQL Server
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them to solve problems
  • 2+ years of experience in software development and engineering, including hands-on coding and solution design
  • Experience contributing to modernization initiatives such as API development, microservices architecture, or cloud migration
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
  • Working knowledge of application security best practices and performance optimization for scalable systems
  • Experience with Entity Framework Core or similar ORM tools
  • Exposure to Agile or SAFe methodologies and collaborative team environments
