As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help modernize critical technology platforms by turning legacy applications into secure, scalable, cloud-ready solutions that improve reliability, speed, and long-term business value. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful engineering outcomes—from designing APIs and microservices to strengthening platform performance, resiliency, and operational excellence—while helping Schwab deliver innovative solutions at enterprise scale.

 

You will work across engineering, product, and business partners to translate priorities into practical technical decisions, solve complex problems, and deliver high-quality software through iterative development. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment where modernization, automation, and continuous improvement are central to how the team works. You’ll also could deepen your expertise in cloud-native engineering, DevOps, and distributed systems while contributing to a culture that values mentorship, innovation, and shared success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 8+ years of software development and engineering experience, including hands-on coding and solution design
  • 8+ years of experience building scalable applications with .NET technologies, including .NET Core or .NET 6+, C#, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework Core
  • Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems to support secure, reliable, high-performing solutions
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments and contributing to iterative, team-based software delivery
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation that improve quality, efficiency, and operational excellence
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and make sound engineering decisions
  • Experience working with relational databases and data access patterns, including SQL and database design principles
  • Understanding of containerization and modern deployment practices using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern application hosting environments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, align technical work to business needs, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners
  • Understanding of security best practices, performance optimization, and application stability in production environments

 

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Technology Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience in enterprise environments
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, or influencing engineering direction across teams
  • Experience leading modernization efforts involving cloud migration, API-first design, or large-scale platform transformation
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or Pivotal Cloud Foundry
  • Experience implementing observability, automation, and engineering practices that improve resiliency, scalability, and supportability
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment with strong security and compliance expectations
  • Certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer, or Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer
