The Facilities Security Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining site security operations, access control systems, surveillance monitoring, visitor management, and security compliance activities. This role works closely with Facilities, EHS, IT, vendors, contractors, and site leadership to ensure the safety and protection of employees, visitors, company assets, and facility operations. The position is operational and facilities-oriented, focused on implementing and maintaining effective site security processes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily facility security operations, including site access control, visitor management, badge administration, contractor coordination, and overall security process support to maintain a safe and secure work environment. 
  • Collaborate with Facilities, HR, EHS, IT, and Operations teams to support overall site security objectives and ensure compliance with company policies, GMP requirements, and applicable security and safety regulations. 
  • Support overall facility operations by maintaining an organized, secure, and controlled site environment. 
  • Monitor and maintain CCTV cameras, surveillance systems, alarms, access control systems, and other site security equipment to ensure proper functionality and site security compliance. 
  • Manage badge/access systems including badge creation, activation, deactivation, and access permissions. Coordinate visitor registration, temporary badge issuance, and compliance with site visitor procedures. 
  • Conduct routine inspections of access points, security systems, and facility security practices to ensure effective security operations.

  • Support emergency response activities, incident reporting, investigations, follow-up corrective actions, evacuation procedures, and site protection protocols. 
  • Respond to security-related issues, emergencies, and operational concerns as needed while coordinating with internal departments and external emergency services when required. 
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining emergency response procedures and security contingency plans. 
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers for security-related maintenance, support, and operational activities. 
  • Support implementation, review, and continuous improvement of security procedures, standards, operational guidelines, and compliance-related activities. 
  • Maintain security records, logs, reports, and related documentation while supporting internal and external security audits. 

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Facilities, Security Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in facility security, access control, facilities coordination, or related operational security roles. 
  • Experience working with CCTV systems, badge/access control systems, and visitor management platforms preferred. 
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally. 
  • Strong communication and coordination skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and security management software. 
  • Ability to respond effectively during emergencies and high-priority situations. 
  • Knowledge of security procedures, incident reporting, and facility operations preferred.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while conducting facility inspections and security rounds 
  • Frequent mobility throughout manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, and office environments 
  • Ability to monitor multiple facility areas, including indoor and outdoor security points 
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment or materials up to 25–50 lbs as needed 
  • Ability to climb stairs and access elevated or restricted areas when required for inspections or emergencies 
  • Ability to operate security equipment, access control systems, and monitoring devices 
  • Ability to respond quickly to alarms, emergencies, or urgent security situations across the site 
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (noise, temperature variations, industrial settings) 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while monitoring CCTV and security systems 
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed in designated areas
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear all PPE including a lab coat, face mask, booties, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, and respirators.
  • OSHA Safety Training Certification (General Industry or Construction Safety awareness preferred) 
  • Access Control / Security Systems Training Certification (CCTV, or similar systems preferred) 
  • Incident Investigation or Workplace Security Training Certification (preferred).

 

  • Strong knowledge of facility security operations, access control, and surveillance systems 
  • Ability to monitor, analyze, and respond to CCTV, alarm, and security system alerts 
  • Skilled in managing badge/access control systems and visitor management processes 
  • Strong incident reporting, investigation, and documentation skills 
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and coordinate evacuation or response procedures 
  • Strong coordination skills with Facilities, HR, EHS, IT, vendors, and contractors 
  • Ability to conduct inspections, audits, and identify security risks or gaps 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate security records and logs 
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) for reporting and coordination 
  • Ability to enforce security policies, procedures, and compliance requirements consistently 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced operational environment 
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and security management systems/software 
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to facility security and operational issues 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive security information appropriately
  • Work is regularly performed inside a office/reception area and will require going to manufacturing environment where temperatures can be moderate, exposure to dust, odors, noise, and fumes. The noise level is usually moderate. Employee can be exposed daily to chemicals and cleaning agents. May occasionally work on the outside of the building, on the grounds, in parking areas, or on the roof during all seasons.
