The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive mental health services to Veterans within the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. This role includes inpatient and/or outpatient care, supporting a diverse Veteran population with a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
Responsibilities

~1 min read- Perform psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses
- Provide medication management and therapeutic interventions
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention
- Manage psychiatric emergencies, including hospitalization evaluations
- Deliver care across settings: outpatient, inpatient, emergency department, and telehealth
- Treat conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, psychosis, and substance use disorders
- Provide care to diverse Veteran populations, including geriatric and post-deployment patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment plans
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and consults
- Serve as a potential team leader for mental health services
- Coordinate referrals and triage specialty clinic consults
- Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation
- Adhere to VA, HIPAA, Joint Commission (TJC), and CARF standards
- Participate in on-call duties as needed
- Support teaching and supervision for residency programs (if applicable)
- Complete required VA training and certifications
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

~1 min read- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA-accredited residency (or equivalent)
- Active, full, and unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- U.S. Citizenship preferred (per VA requirements)
Requirements

- May require travel to community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs)
- Must maintain professional appearance and adhere to VA conduct standards
- Subject to credentialing, privileging, and background investigation
- Compliance with VA policies, HIPAA, and federal regulations required
