The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Physician (FM or IM) to provide onsite urgent care services at the Erie VA Medical Center. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, timely care to veterans in a fast-paced urgent care setting.
- Hours of Operation: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Coverage: 7 days/week including weekends and federal holidays
- Physicians must be present during scheduled shifts and support full operational coverage
Responsibilities

~1 min read- Provide urgent care evaluation, triage, and treatment
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Perform procedures as clinically indicated (e.g., laceration repair, I&D, splinting, etc.)
- Stabilize and transfer patients when higher level of care is required
- Document all encounters in the VA electronic health record (CPRS)
- Provide discharge instructions and follow-up care guidance
Responsibilities

- →Participate in patient safety and quality reporting
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Complete QA/QI documentation
- Maintain timely and accurate medical records
- Participate in performance evaluations (FPPE/OPPE)
Requirements

~1 min read- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine)
- Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state
- BLS & ACLS certification required
- DEA registration (active or eligible)
- Strong English communication skills

- Ability to independently manage a wide range of urgent care conditions
- Proficiency in common urgent care procedures
