Responsibilities

As a Planner Intern at KCI, your role is to gain hands-on experience in planning and development projects. Working under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will contribute to various tasks and projects, helping ensure they meet our high standards and client expectations. This role offers a valuable opportunity for professional growth and practical application of your planning knowledge. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor, attend planned activities, and submit required reports/presentations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring projects meet ISO compliance requirements.
  • Strive to achieve or exceed the budgeted individual utilization target, typically set at 85%.
  • Attend bi-weekly or more frequent meetings with project teams to discuss progress and address any issues.
  • Complete all assigned tasks on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope.
  • Operate within specified corporate or project budget parameters.
  • Assist with the preparation of preliminary site plans, including base sheets, and submit them for approval.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs.
  • Draft accurate and visually appealing report graphics.
  • Compile and draft research summaries to support project development.
  • Draft schematic land use and landscape/wetland mitigation plans.
  • Obtain research materials from federal, state, and local agencies as required.
  • Plot the location of project sites and utilities, including property deeds from descriptions.
  • Complete other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Skills Required:

  • This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.
  • Currently enrolled in a planning or related college program.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • 3.0 GPA or higher preferred.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License.

 

Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
