As part of the medical department, the Minor League Physical Therapist - Dominican Republic will provide rehabilitative treatment and services across the Brewer’s minor league system for both operative and non-operative patients located at the Milwaukee Brewers Dominican Republic Academy. These services include, but are not limited to, therapeutic exercise prescription, manual therapy, patient education, development and management of player throwing programs, and development and implementation of return to play progressions. The Minor League Physical Therapist/Athletic Trainer will work with the Player Health and Performance departments to provide high quality athlete centered care and team/game coverage as needed. Residence in the Dominican Republic required.

Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Treat injured players with attention to injury prevention, medical treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Assist with supervision and education of the Minor League medical staff which includes Athletic Trainers, strength & conditioning personnel, etc.
  • Communicate with Rehabilitation Team of all medical treatments, evaluations, or exams performed on players.

 The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of professional baseball experience in the medical or a related field, have national certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association, Doctorate degree (DPT) from four-year College or university required. Candidates must be eligible or be certified as a dual licensed/credentialed PT/ATC, have Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) certificate or have completed the Acute Management of Injury and Illness Courses that are approved by ABPTS Sports Specialty Council, prior to the start of the baseball season. Candidates with the ability to speak Spanish are preferred.

 

Within the medical department, you will assume the responsibility of overseeing athletes allocated to your designated affiliate. We emphasize an athlete-centric methodology, achieved through collaborative efforts, to deliver the highest quality care to each assigned athlete. Our approach involves meticulous monitoring of athletes' health and status throughout the season, employing performance metrics. Furthermore, we administer preventive measures, treatments, and rehabilitation procedures, all under the careful supervision of the head athletic trainer.
