Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. This position processes and analyzes transactions in the billing system and assists with general ledger accounts by verifying and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.

 

 

·       Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling a high-volume workload dealing with priorities & deadlines.

·       Must have strong Excel skills including knowledge of Pivot Tables and Vlookup.

·       Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization utilizing various communication methods (calls, emails, text messages) by having excellent verbal and communication skills.

·       Must be team-oriented with effective interpersonal skills that allow successful business interactions with individuals of a variety of work styles, personalities, and career levels.

·       Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.

·       Preferred bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.

·       Must have a minimum of two (2) years of accounting related experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Preferred accounts receivable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps records to ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.

    Verifies, researches, enters, and/or applies customer and collection agency payments into billing system.

    Responds to inquiries and internal work tickets from school personnel and customers, and researches and resolves concerns or discrepancies.

    Where customer refunds are required to be processed, ensures accurate and timely processing.

    Work cooperatively with staff members, other departments and outside agency representatives maintaining a customer service focus.  Assist with school leader training and compliance with AR SOPs.

    Establish and maintains good working relationships with all levels of management and key stakeholders. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments.

    Assists with annual audit preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.

    Assist with other ad hoc projects as required.
