Responsibilities
~1 min readThe Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled nursing services to patients under the direction of a professional medical doctor or midlevel provider, and provides a variety of related services to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. Administers nursing procedures to patients in accordance with patient's nursing care plans, such as sterile dressings, soaks, compresses, enemas, suppositories, oxygen therapy, catheterization, diabetic care, and pre and post-operative care.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- →Leads the day to day work and productivity of patient care staff
- →Advise and assist staff on problem solving patient/customer issues.
- →Assist supervisor in scheduling employee time off and daily work assignments
- →Address issues associated with clinic operations
- →May act as a clinical preceptor.
- →Aids management in a variety of areas such as but not limited to hiring, training, employee engagement, performance management, identifying areas for service or operational improvement, and reinforcing established expectations from management, and scheduling.
Requirements
~1 min read- Degree in Practical Nursing
- Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- CPR certified. Knowledge of sterile technique.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an LPN with OSUP, or equivalent experience at OSU within the last year.
- Prior experience working in a preceptor designation preferred.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids.
- Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and develop, recommends, and implement solutions.
