About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team and help us deliver life-changing services. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality clinical care to individuals affected by drug and alcohol use. This includes delivering evidence-based interventions, improving health outcomes, and supporting individuals to build safer, healthier, and more independent lives.
This is a dynamic role where you’ll combine clinical expertise with a strong person-centred and recovery-focused approach, empowering individuals to take ownership of their recovery journey.
You’ll bring resilience, professionalism, and empathy, along with a passion for supporting people with complex needs to achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Deliver comprehensive physical and mental health assessments and contribute to personalised recovery plans
- →Provide clinical interventions including alcohol and opioid detoxification, and support OST titration
- →Deliver harm reduction interventions including naloxone distribution and safer injecting advice
- →Carry out BBV screening, vaccinations, and health promotion activities
- →Undertake phlebotomy and interpret results to inform clinical decisions and referrals
- →Work collaboratively with partner agencies including GPs, pharmacies, and secondary care services
- →Support individuals through community-based detoxification programmes
- →Contribute to safeguarding, risk assessments, and care coordination
- →Promote best practice and provide clinical guidance to colleagues where appropriate
- First level Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN
- Strong understanding of harm reduction and health promotion approaches
- Ability to assess, plan, and deliver person-centred care and recovery interventions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships
- Commitment to safeguarding, risk management, and high-quality clinical standards
- Ability to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a team
- Experience working within substance misuse services
- Knowledge of detoxification pathways and prescribing practices
- Phlebotomy training and experience with BBV interventions
- Experience using motivational interviewing techniques
- Relevant substance misuse qualification
