The Denali Center is hiring for heart. This position provides nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse and/or licensed physician, and is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his or her direction. This position observes, contributes to the plan of care, implements, reports and documents patient care in accordance with department policies, standard of care and state scope of practice. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to contribute to the assessment of data and to plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Available Schedule: Full Time, 40 Hours per week, 4 x 10-hour shifts 9:00am-7:30pm Sunday - Wednesday

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily living assistance and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health. Assists patients with basic hygiene needs, maintains optimum mobility levels, provides safe patient handling, O2, infection control practices, assists patients with nutritional intake, as needed, and provides end of life care.
  • Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, glucose testing, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.
  • Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in to the patient’s health status, as well as patient health responses from treatment of a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
  • Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs, EKG monitoring, and bladder scanning. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
  • Understands and able to incorporate infection control standards.
  • Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and laptop computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
  • Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
  • Mentors, trains, and teaches other staff. Involved in performance improvement projects.
  • Requirements

    High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge is required.Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of C.N.A. experience. The ability to train and mentor other employees is required. The ability to float to other areas of the facility is required. Preceptor education course required.Current BLS certification. Current C.N.A. license in state of practice is required in accordance with regulatory requirements or facility/department policy. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and ability to lead other employeesMust possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required.As is typical in this industry, variable shifts and hours, and on-call duties may be required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAdditional related education and/or previous leadership experience preferred.
