Provides technical support to the quality and quality engineering (QE) functions | Conducts quality control (QC) inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards | Captures and analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards | Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards
  • Requires advanced skills typically gained through a combination of training and considerable on-the-job experience
  • Typically acts as a lead, coordinating and checking the work of others – but not as a supervisor
  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices and typically acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others
  • Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
  • Performs repetitive and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts, units, equipment, or materials.
  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
  • Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
  • Documents the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Coordinates calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Assists with inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.

Requirements

  • Required education and experience: High School Diploma/GED required and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Preferred education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Mathematical skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise. Detail oriented.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
